“List of Things I Want To Get Or Do…”


This is mostly for my own benefit, so I can keep track of my wishlist items in a known place…but of course contributions gratefully accepted. :-) So – in no particular order:
  • HD PVR – probably the Topfield Masterpiece HD TRF-2400
  • Xbox 360 Elite
  • A copy of Rivet to go along with the Xbox
  • Requisite games to go with Xbox 360 – these are the only ones that readily spring to mind from Xbox nights ‘round at Adz’ & Nick’s place:
    • Halo 1, 2, 3
    • Saints Row, Saints Row 2
    • F.E.A.R. 2
    • Fallout 3

  • iPhone 3GS [32GB]
  • iPhone Developer Connection membership
  • Develop and release “non-free” app for aforementioned iPhone
  • Make NAM a “more prominent” part of my overall wealth strategy [well, mine, Nick and Adz’ strategy]
  • Get an Eagles membership that’s actually in my own name (not that I don’t appreciate having one!)
  • Since I no longer have a 30” LCD display in my home office…a (new) Dell 3008WFP. [Once you’ve had a 30” display, going back to a 20” display sucks balls…]
  • New 17” MacBook Pro – but only when it’s got a Core i7 CPU, so not until Q4 ’09 H1 ’10 [when Nehalem mobile CPUs are released]. Looks like the current 2.33 GHz beast will have to last 3 years after all. That’s OK – it’s been an absolutely wicked machine.
  • (Not sure on this)Been thinking about a desktop (Mac Pro) as well…but might wait to see how quickly code compiles on aforementioned i7 MBP.
  • Upgraded home-theatre receiver [one of the higher-end Pioneer models? Either the SCLX71 or the SCLX72 I’m thinking ATM…but the product line might change at any time.]
  • Expand TV-DVD collection [brackets indicate required season(s), * means season not yet available in Australia and/or yet to air]:

  • Upgrade my car: would like to reduce my CO2 emissions, so a hybrid is definitely on the cards there.
  • Go see 4 games of footy in a weekend [pretty much requires a trip to Melbourne :)]- Done [R1, 2009]
  • See 5 games of footy in a weekend [again, requires trip to Melbourne while Eagles are playing there]
  • Contribute a code-level fix for OpenSolaris a high-profile OSS project [pretty open wish, huh?]
  • Get to Level 2 Status on Project Euler
  • Pragmatic Programmer Wishlist Books
  • Books on System Administration and Programming at Amazon
